EasyMalwareBlocker - Home Users: List of Features

EasyMalwareBlocker efficiently blocks any attempts to clandestinely install unwanted malicious software of any kind (including rootkits) that may occur while surfing the Internet. These threats have become more common recently and now pose one of the biggest risk for your computer.
Not all of other Security Programs can prevent drive-by downloads, if they do they use difficult to maintain malware reference lists; many only find them after they have been installed.
EasyMalwareBlocker protects your computer immediately after the program has been installed and started, out-of-the-box!
There is no need to answer any cryptical questions in a setup session like in other Internet Security Programs*.
*This only applies to customers who newly install or re-install their XP Operating System (OS). If you do NOT want to re-install the OS you will have to answer a few questions but you are given tips on what to look at so clicking the appropriate button (Block or Allow) should not prove that difficult.
- The File System Monitor generally blocks writing of any potentially dangerous files to the File System (Hard Disc). Drive-by downloads of executable files are blocked in any mode but the "Disabled" mode.
Installing new programs from external memories like USB memory sticks and/or CD/DVD drives can be prevented.
- The Network System Monitor's (a two-way "Firewall") main job is to prevent that any (personal) data is being transmitted over the Internet (and the (W)LAN network) (Outgoing Firewall) without your explicit consent. It also blocks network traffic to ports which are unnecesssarily open by default (Incoming Firewall).
- EasyMalwareBlocker also provides a sophisticated tool which lists the most important programs which are started when your computer is being booted (about 400 or more!) and other utilities to verify its own operation. However, these tools are for experts only.

EasyMalwareBlocker packs all these recommendations in one single program. Install and run EasyMalwareBlocker
and your computer is protected, efficiently protected that is. Period.
There is NO need to regularly run time consuming Anti Virus, Anti Spyware Programs, etc, anymore as writing any
malware on the File System (eg the Hard Disk) is prevented in the first place, so there is no need to clean up the
mess by running these Virus Scan and Remover Programs which often search your computer for an hour or even two.
You can use your Microsoft Windows XP Operating System (Home or Pro) (TM) for years to come. Even when Microsoft ceases to provide updates (which are not really needed anyway when EMB is running in the recommended FSM modes) your computer is well protected by EMB.
Unlike on other computers which are "protected" by competitor's Internet Security Suites - EasyMalwareBlocker does
NOT allow even the very latest malware to clandestinely install itself (called drive-by downloads) in the first place. So malware can not, for instance, delete personal files before it is finally detected and removed.
In case your kids are using the same computer a password can be set in order to restrict access to the administrative parts of EMB like the File System Monitor, Parental Control and Delete Traces Panels.
Access is denied to EasyMalwareBlocker's own folders which contain files with sensitive data and these can therefore NOT be manipulated.

EasyMalwareBlocker also provides sophisticated tools to verify its own operation as stated above.
Despite the good protection downloading and installing new programs is still possible, but yu have to temporarily lower the grade of protection or disable it entirely. This can be done with a few mouseclicks.
After returning back to one of the recommended protective modes EasyMalwareBlocker automatically runs the EMB utility Autostart.
Although EMB offers high security for your computer this program causes no conceivable overall computer performance loss, quite unlike some competitors security suites.
There is (for unknown reasons) a well known Internet Security Program which turns every high end computer in a lame duck and it offers less security than EMB.
Total Spy Protection (NO private data is going to be transmitted over the Internet without your explicit consent!).
Programs AND modules involved in sending data over the Internet are being controlled by EMB. Our Network Application Control Panel is unique, we have not seen a similar panel at any of our competitor's programs.
(The "Firewall" included in Microsoft's Windows XP does NOT have a complete outgoing traffic protection... It can only detect programs which send data, but modules, often used by malware (most of the time *.dll files as so called 'Browser Helper Objects'), which can do so too are simply ignored.)
EasyMalwareBlocker blocks unnecessarily listening ports so malware like viruses, ad- and spyware, rootkits, etc, can NOT clandestinely install themselves on your computer.
(This could only happen if you were surfing in the default FSM mode (which is NOT recommended).)
Support for Small Home Networks
Small Home and Office Networks are fully supported by EMB.
- Predefined genres: Porn*, Violence, Nazi, Sports. *You have the option to allow web sites with sexual education contents. There are some predefined sites which you can delete and/or add new ones in order to adapt to the age of your child(ren).
- Customer defined wordlist (If any word listed is found in a website it will be blocked)
- Customer defined whitelist (URLs in that list will always be correctly displayed)
- Customer defined blacklist (URLs in that list will always be blocked)
- Fully customizable allowed computer- and Internet access times (maximum time and 3 time frames)
Booting to 'Save Mode' can be blocked by a click on a button so that your smart and computer savvy offspring can NOT circumvent the imposed restrictions easily.
- On ordinary 33/56k Modem connections EMB protects you from being connected to (expensive) providers of
dubious contents.
- Your computer can NOT be remotely controlled by other computers without your explicit consent. (In case
you need help from a knowledgeable friend who is not at the site of your computer you can still use that feature, so he or she can repair your computer by controlling it over the Internet.)
- (The 3 most common Internet Browsers already protect you from being hi-jacked to eg unwanted commercial sites
every time you launch them. Newer versions also have built-in phishing protection.)
When you surf the Internet you always leave traces behind. Every site (URL) visited is automatically recorded and
written to the Hard Disc by the Operating System.
- Microsoft's Internet Explorer also has an option to remove traces left behind when surfing. Unlike them, EasyMalwareBlocker can remove ALL the traces.
- Traces left behind when surfing with the Firefox and/or the Opera Browser can also be deleted.
- Unique feature: There is an option to delete selected traces automatically at every boot (for the
most common 3 browsers).
- Should any malware program "kill" EasyMalwareBlocker or the system unloads it due to a severe error a
messagebox pops up to tell you that EasyMalwareBlocker is no longer running. You have the option to immediately restart it.
- The Security Monitor also warns you every time a browser is being launched and EasyMalwareBlocker is either
not running or in 'Disabled' mode, also with an option to restart it or to change the FSM Mode.
There is no need to download and install Microsoft's Windows Operating System Security Updates when
EasyMalwareBlocker is running all the time in one of the recommended FSM modes.
However, if you feel safer you can continue to install these updates. EMB might detect a version change in dlls which are involved in accessing the Internet and therefore show an appropriate popup.
EasyMalwareBlocker itself requires hardly any updates
Handling updates of Reference Files is done in the background and downloading them takes very little time. Changes
take place immediately and automatically (you do NOT have to either install them or to reboot the computer).
However, new versions of EMB have to be downloaded and installed manually.
Some More Features (for Geeks only)
- The Network Driver tries hard to pass all "leaktests".
- Network Ports can be configured individually (for gamers and users of Skype, for example).
- Your computer is even protected while booting up and shooting down.
- The 'Root' Section of the registry can be checked for new entries and changes. If files with normally harmless file extensions are turned into monsters or new file extensions are added to the Registry this utility will tell you about it.
- EasyMalwareBlocker not only blocks malware, it can also remove this kind of files with a built-in Malware Remover tool. However, only experts are supposed to use that tool.
